Open mic spots are now available for the next Bad Language on September 25th featuring Jean Sprackland.

Usual rules apply. We work the open mic on a first-come first-served basis, and we reserve half of our ten available spots for people who haven’t read with us before. Spots are four minutes long – full details on our open mic page. In short, just email

Our headliner Jean Sprackland is winner of the Costa Poetry Award and the Portico Prize for Non-Fiction in 2012. Her books have also been shortlisted for the Forward Prize, the TS Eliot Prize and the Whitbread Award. She teaches creative writing at Manchester Metropolitan University and the Arvon Foundation. She is also Chair of the Poetry Archive, the world’s premier online collection of recordings of poets reading their work.
